This template is intended to mark close paraphrasing within articles that does not or may not rise to the level of copyright infringement. If you believe the paraphrasing is close enough that it may infringe copyright, please follow the procedures at {{tl|copyvio}} instead.<br />

All parameters are optional. <code>article</code> can be replaced with a more specific description of the problematic part, such as <code>section</code> or <code>table</code>. {{para|source}} can be used to indicate which source is being too closely paraphrased; it can contain links. {{para|free|yes}} can be used to remove the wording "non-free copyrighted" from the template, if you want to use it to mark an article that may be plagiarized from a [[public domain]] resource. {{para|talk}} can be used to specify the name of a section to link to on the talk page.<br />

This template also includes support for using the {{para|date}} parameter. Adding this parameter sorts the article into a dated subcategory of [[:Category:Articles with close paraphrasing]] and out of the parent category, allowing the oldest problems to be identified and dealt with first. A [[Wikipedia:Bot policy|bot]] will add this parameter if it is omitted.<br />
